“And the winner is . . .”

Arthur Kennedy from Southampton is the winner of our first Celtic book competition, the Malky MacDonald biography ‘Forgotten Star’ by Alex O’Henley.

Thank you to all those who submitted entries. The question posed was: Malky was briefly manager of the Scotland international team in the mid 1960s for two Home International matches. Which former Celt was the opposing manager in one of those games?

The correct answer was: Bertie Peacock, N. Ireland.

The game took place at Hampden Park on 16 November 1966 and Scotland won 2-1 with goals from Bobby Lennox and Bobby Murdoch, two of six Celts in the Scotland team.

Of the many correct entries received, Arthur’s name was the first picked out of the jaggy tammy.   A signed copy of the book will be winging its way to Arthur shortly.

Keep your eyes peeled for another Celtic book competition from The Shamrock in the next few weeks.
