My mother was born in Motherwell in 1913 . Her love of Celtic came from reading the football reports to her father who came from Donegal and could read English but could not speak it. The first game she saw was the Exhibition Cup final and the last game she saw was the victory over Motherwll at Fir Park which won the first of 9inarow. We were not allowed t o criticise Celtic in her hearing.
Thanks for sharing this John – fascinating! Almost three decades following the Bhoys, I am sure she had some great stories. Would have been amazing to see Celtic win the Exhibition Cup at Ibrox in ’38!
