Looks like BBC Alba’s documentary about the life and times of Celtic’s greatest manager this coming Monday is going to be a tremendous watch. Alex O’Henley and the team travelled from Llanelli to Lisbon and many places in between following Jock’s trail from Burnbank to glory with Celtic and his ultimate death in the dug-out while Scotland manager.
The list of people interviewed is a virtual Who’s Who of Scottish football from the 60s and 70s: Danny McGrain, Gordon Strachan, John Clark, Graeme Souness, Pat Stanton, Alex Edwards, Jim Craig, Peter Cormack and Archie MacPherson among others
Extract from a great interview with Bertie Auld here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0206v17

This excellent documentary is currently on the BBC iPlayer – enjoy! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b045x3s8/jock-stein
From 1973’s ‘Scorcher and Score’ magazine, a ‘toon review of ‘John’ Stein’s career as a player and manager. At that point the 7th League title in succession had just been chalked up.
Liked this sign-off: “No wonder Jock Stein is called ‘The Manager of the Century!”
A fantastic silk scarf from the ’70s with a brilliant cartoon of Celtic’s greatest ever manager – showing off his muscles!
It’s unusual to see the saltire on a Celtic scarf – unless it’s been re-formatted to green and white 😉
