Art of the Celts 9 – Main Entrance, Old Celtic Park

ImageThe main entrance in front of Celtic Park is being renovated at the moment with the development of ‘The Celtic Way’ leading up to the front door.

For many years the entrance to Celtic Park was marked by a distinctive stained glass work with ‘Celtic FC’ emblazoned on it.  A new facade was put on the main stand when it was extended at the time of the centenary season but fortunately this iconic piece of glass was saved – and can now be viewed in the corridor inside Celtic Park.

For a number of decades some of Celtic’s greatest men walked under this glass into Paradise and it also witnessed a few memorable moments itself.

  1. I’d love to know what was the inspiration for the central motif at the top of that historic window. Can The Shamrock shed any light on it?
